When we Collided

When we Collided by Emery Lord

"Can you fall in love when you're falling apart?"

This book by Emery Lord is a love story surrounded by tragedy and loss. It shows light even in the darkest of times. This book is set in summer and brings together two damaged people who have two different struggles and together they come together and end up helping each other with out even knowing it. A sad stressed boy and a extravagant lost girl meet and end up changing each others lives for the better. Meeting each other was the best thing that has happened to the both of them.

Emery Lord does a beautiful job of displaying the creation of making something beautiful even in the worst situations. This book switches of points of view between Jonah and Vivi in every other chapter. this helps to see what is going on in both of the minds of the characters. You get to learn the pain of each character in their own words an thoughts instead of through just one character. Lord also shows the true love that a family can give and how important it is to stick with your family and support them even through the roughest of times.

Pros: the lesson of how important family is, how necessary it is to have true friends, and the value of true love.

Cons: No sign of a sequel and no chance of knowing how things are now. The book will leave you wondering what happened to the characters down the road.

The best part of this book in my opinion was how two damaged people made something beautiful and were there for each other even in the darkest of times.
