Weird Illinois By: Troy Taylor
Weird Illinois is a great book for reluctant young readers
because every page tells a different story. The content within this book reports the
history of Chicago, paranormal sightings, interesting towns, cold cases etc. The
content within the book is not like the content in other books read within
schools. There is no hidden message, or deeper meaning for them to decode. This
makes the book alluring for young adults.
Here are a few of the stories in this book:
Haunted Places: Showmen’s Rest located in Forest Park is a
mass grave area in the cemetery where the members of The Showmen’s League (circus)
were laid to rest. All of them were killed in a train collision in 1918.

Roadside Attractions/Landmarks: In this book students will
find a 170ft catsup bottle. Which is in Collinsville Illinois.
Unsolved Cases: Barbra and Patricia Grimes disappeared on
December 28th 1956. This case is interesting because it remains
open. During the time of their disappearance 4 potential suspects were
questioned and released. This case is still cold.

Wow, this sounds really interesting. I've lived in Illinois my whole life and wouldn't mind reading something like this.
